Eating worms and other fungal communities in their larval stage (stage meconis) is common in the Middle East.
People are more likely to be carrying the parasites when they are ill or suffering from other chronic ailments, the Middle East Veterinary Medical Agency (MEMA) reported in an article published in Veterinary Diagnostics & Translational Medicine journal.
The finding raises the possibility of eating highly concentrated insect larvae and also the social spread of a potentially lethal fungal vegetarian pathogen, E.
