Society • Is Cecil More Important than Babies in Womb??
The merciless killing of Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe by Minnesota Dentist, Dr. Walter Palmer, has prompted worldwide outrage, and rightfully so. However, the comments about the media stories scream that this is lopsided, according to angry Christians, who have been burning up the internet with their disgust with this concern for animals while babies are being slaughtered in the womb
Rev. Chuck Baldwin , a minister who once ran for President, writes for many of the same sites as this writer. Indeed, when he wrote his excellent study on Romans 13 in his book by that title, I reviewed it, giving his book wide exposure.
Rev. Baldwin has joined the chorus of outrage against the attention paid to the killing of Cecil, when, he reasons, we should be concentrating on the evil of abortion with a subtle suggestion that he is directing his criticism to me since our columns appear on the same news sites.
In his column that just broke titled: “Cecil the Lion, the Fire of Molech, Dr. Mengele, and Planned Parenthood,” he opens with this paragraph:
“While the propaganda media and their friends in animal rights extremism are going bonkers over the apparent accidental harvesting of a lion in Zimbabwe, the video evidence of Planned Parenthood doctors selling aborted baby parts barely rates a mention. In this absolutely convoluted, confused, and crazy society in which we find ourselves, timeless, tested, and traditional values have been turned completely upside down.”
Hold on: Cecil the lion was NOT accidently shot. Cecil had been tagged and placed in a PROTECTED area. Killing in that area is forbidden and a crime. Dr. Walter Palmer paid $55,000 for the privilege to kill Cecil. However Cecil was in a protected area. So Palmer took a dead animal and dragged it with his car out the gate. The purpose was to lure Cecil out of that no kill area. That itself is illegal.
Once outside the gate, he then used a silent bow and arrow to shoot Cecil with the arrow slicing through his fur, skin and organs where the arrow remained in him as Cecil, wounded and weak, called upon all of his strength to get away from Palmer. This dentist, with an obvious cavity in his brain, stalked the lion for 40 hours….40 hours of unspeakable torture for Cecil with every step or move he made unleashing horrific pain in every part of his body.
That dentist eventually found the animal with no stamina left, took out his gun and with a smirk on his face, Shot Cecil, who then gasped his last breath. And by the way, those of us who love and protect animals are not extremists. We are people with compassion.
This was no accidental shooting as Rev. Baldwin falsely states . This was all carefully planned with devious means to get Cecil out of that protected area.
The discussion has become, Animal Cruelty vs. Abortion, which it is not. It is to be noted that animal cruelty and abortion are two separate things. One has nothing to do with the other. BOTH are extremely important and must be dealt with severely.
Rev. Baldwin goes on to write in defense of that killing: “In fact, both Natural and Revealed Law teaches us that our Creator intended that man have dominion over the animal kingdom. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genisis 1:26)
He goes on to explain: “Animals have served the needs of mankind since man was first created. In the Garden of Eden, God killed animals for the purpose of clothing a spiritually-fallen Adam and Eve. Animals have been used to clothe man, feed man, prosper man, protect man, please man, sustain man, adinfinitum, ever since the dawn of human history.” How’s that again?
Please show us where it says in the Bible that “God killed animals for the purpose of clothing Adam and Eve?” Also, the word about man having DOMINION over the animal kingdom is again misused. This gives no man license to mistreat or brutally slaughter beasts so that the trophy hunter can cut off the animal’s head, process it, mount it and display it on a wall in a living room or den.
The word dominion translates, Respect (the animals)—cooperate (with the animals.) That is the correct interpretation of, “dominion.” This is all made clear in my soon to be published book, “Angels Unawares-4 Legged Ones—What the Church Didn’t Teach Me, I Learned from my Poodle.”
Since my story about Cecil was published on this website, it is noticed that some of the comments about the publicity given to Cecil was directed towards me.
First of all, I have also written hard hitting stories opposing abortion, especially how those horrific inhumane abortions are carried out. While the “mainstream” media has given a lot of attention to the videos of Planned Parenthood discussing the sale of body parts from a baby just killed in the womb, they do minimum coverage on Planned Parenthood in general. Here is a link to one of my stories about abortion: http://revaustinmiles.com/index.php/more/746
Rev. Chuck Baldwin, I believe, is sincere in his writings and proclamations. However, on this issue, he is dead wrong. There are two distinctly separate issues being dealt with, animal cruelty and murder in the womb of babies. The democrat-socialists strangely seem to love animals but demonstrate their hatred of babies in the womb. They even ruled against a law that would require abortionists to administer anesthesia to babies before literally tearing them apart, limb by limb. Babies in the womb (it has been proved) feel pain. But the Dems voted that down. Yes, the democrats hate babies. God help us all.
